Scholarship Description

For the Vice Admiral Edwin B. Hooper Post-Doctoral Research Grant, applicants must be citizens of the United States and must demonstrate attainment in research and writing, especially with previously published works on U.S. naval history or associated field. By helping to defray the costs of travel, living expenses, and document duplications related to the research process, the grant is intended to assist a scholar in the research and writing of a book or article that significantly enhances knowledge of U.S. naval history.

Applicants should send an e-mail to the address listed above stating the purpose and scope of the research project, including a proposed budget. Applicants should also submit a completed pdf application form, as well as a C.V. that provides evidence of professional qualifications. In addition, two letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the applicant’s field of study will be required. Recipients of the Hooper Grant are engaged to work on a study of U.S. naval history intended for publication.
